When we heard that Hampshire Cultural Trust were looking for local organisations to help rehome some of the books, maps and research documents available at the (now closed) Eastleigh Museum, we jumped at the chance to step in and help preserve our local history.

The Eastleigh local studies collection is mostly digitised and available online, but nothing beats the sensation of leafing through the original papers written by local history enthusiasts through the decades.

CEO Emma Golby-Kirk said:

“Eastleigh Museum is remembered with fondness by many local townsfolk. As a community organisation, we want to keep those special memories alive by providing a welcoming space for anyone to pop by and read about the history of the place that they call home, as they were able to do at the museum. We also hope that people will continue to add to the collection, researching new topics, and keeping the story of Eastleigh alive”.

We are pleased to invite anyone who is interested to drop in to the Heritage Hub at Pavilion on the Park on Wednesdays any time between 1pm and 3pm to look through the collection and explore the stories that made the town as we know it.

A member of our projects team will be on hand to guide visitors through the collection and answer any questions.
